G.T. Dempsey

G.T. Dempsey is a Research Associate at the University of California at Davis and a commentator on American foreign policy.  As an historian of Late Antiquity, he specializes in seventh-century Western intellectual history.  He served as a career American diplomat, 1973-94, with postings in Madrid, Vienna, Geneva, The Hague, Dublin, and Caracas.  He was educated at St Pius X Seminary in Sacramento, the University of California at Berkeley, Harvard University, and St John’s College of Oxford University.  He served in the U.S. Army, 1965-68.  He is the father of three children.
